"Quartet for the End of Time" (Messiaen) performed by Silakbo Quartet

solo show Lode Laperre

‘SynAESTHETICS’ is a multi-disciplinary and multi-faceted collaboration between the musicians of Ensemble Silakbo (Angelina Gotcheva, Bogdan Ivanov, Edgar Gomes & Mikko Pablo), their composer-in-residence Adam Clarke and visual artist Lode Laperre. It is a presentation of French composer Olivier Messiaen’s iconic work ‘Quartet for the End of Time’ alongside a newly composed piece by Canadian composer Adam Vincent Clarke. Furthermore, through the creation of eight works of art, one inspired by each movement of the 'Quartet for the End of Time', Belgian artist Lode Laperre explores the perceptual phenomenon of synesthesia, a condition which Messiaen is known to have had and which was one of the major influences in his music writing.
