‘Naevus’ is the title of Lode Laperre's upcoming solo exhibition in Galerie 10a in Otegem. Since the gallery is housed in the former home of Lode Laperre’s late grandparents, and in the very street where the artist grew up and lived until the age of 23, it is set to be a reflective and emotionally charged display. ‘Naevus’ means birthmark and Laperre’s inspiration for this exhibition originates in the many recollections and experiences during his childhood in this house. He uses imagery and spaces that are etched into his memory and that remain perceptible and recognizable in the layout of the gallery today. This results in a series of abstract paintings that are thoughtfully rearranged to revive chronicles, like metaphors for the past.
The exhibition can be visited in the weekend (2 - 6 PM) or by appointment.
The artist monograph 'Naevus' by Lode Laperre is on sale during the exhibition. The proceeds of this art book go to FAIRMED, an organization that is committed to global healthcare.
